Congregation Shaare Emeth (also referred to herein as “Congregation”, “we” or us”) maintains this website (the “Site”) as a service to its Members and visitors. It is the policy of Congregation to respect and protect the privacy of individuals using this Site. This Privacy Policy is a part of the “Terms of Use” for the Site located at "Terms of Use" and govern your use of this Site.
Please read this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use carefully before you use this Site. By accessing or using the Site, you accept and agree to be bound by the Terms of Use and this Privacy Policy. If you do not accept the Terms of Use or this Privacy Policy, you should leave and discontinue all use of the Site.
GENERAL SITE INFORMATION:
This Site has two functional areas: a “Public Section,” accessible at www.shaare-emeth.org, and a “Member Section,” accessible from the Public Section.
Public Section. The Public Section is accessible to the public at www.shaare-emeth.org and gives visitors access to general information regarding the Congregation, including, calendar of events, new members of the Congregation’s community, information regarding the Religious School and the Shirley Green Pre-School, Camp Emeth, a media and photo center, news and other information regarding the Congregation and its community.
Member Section. The Member Section is accessible from the Public Section by clicking on the Member login icon. To enter the Member Section requires a current User ID and password, and is reserved solely for the use of Members of the Congregation. Among other things, the Member Section permits you to review and update your personal information, review your statement, make online donations, view Yarzheit information, view event registrations, view the Member Directory, and change your password.
HOW WE COLLECT AND USE PERSONAL INFORMATION: Personal Information You Volunteer. We collect any personal information that you provide while visiting or using the Site. This may include your name, mailing address, email address, phone number, and other contact information, and any other personal information that you submit when filling out an application, requesting that we contact you, responding to a survey or questionnaire, or otherwise submitting content on the Site. We use this personal information for the purposes made apparent at the time of collection, as well as to communicate with you regarding the Site, monitor and improve the quality of the Site, and as otherwise required or permitted under applicable law.
Member Directory. Our Congregation has historically maintained a Member Directory and made it available to our Membership. That Member Directory is also available in the Member Section of the Site, and is accessible by other persons logged into the Member Section. The Congregation has historically excluded from the Membership Roster those Members whose telephone numbers are unlisted or who otherwise request exclusion. The same procedures and exclusions apply to the Member Directory in the Member Section. If you are included in the Membership Roster but wish to have your name removed, directions are included when you open the Member Section, or opt-out@shaare-emeth.org, and the information will be removed promptly.
In addition, the Member Directory contains additional personal information we maintain regarding you and your family. This additional personal information is accessible only through your Member login using your User ID and Password. This information may include, the name, address, business address, phone numbers, and email addresses for you and your spouse, if applicable; first name information regarding your children, Yarhzeit information, and school registration information (e.g., Camp Emeth, Camp Micah, Shaare Emeth Temple Youth, Religious School and Shirley Green Preschool). You may update this information from time to time and/or request its removal from the Site in the manner stated above.
Automatic Collection of Information. Certain types of information may be collected automatically when you visit and use the Site. For instance, we may collect the IP address of the computer you are using; the name of the domain and host from which you access the Internet; the Internet address of the website from which you linked to the Site; the type of browser you are using; time and date stamp information; and information regarding your visit to the Site, including your landing page, the number and order of pages viewed, and the time spent on a particular page. We do not treat this non-personally identifiable information as personal information, unless it is combined with contact, account or similar information that personally identifies you.
Online Donations. The Site allows you to make online donations through the Member Section. Donation processing for the Congregation is handled by our third party service providers. After collecting any preliminary information, we will transfer you to the website of a third party service provider (“Provider”). The Provider will request that you provide certain contact information, including your name, mailing address, phone number, and e-mail address. In addition, the Provider will request that you provide certain donation information, including the amount of your donation and the fund to which you would like to direct that donation. Finally, the Provider will request that you provide certain billing information, including the name of your bank or credit card, your bank or credit card account number, expiration date, and billing address.
The Provider will use the information that you provide on its website for the following purposes:
• To process your donation request
• To verify your identity
• As otherwise specified in the Provider’s Privacy Statement
The Provider will share your contact and donation information with the Congregation, however, the Congregation will not request or receive your billing information. The Congregation may use your contact and donation information for the following purposes:
• To contact you about your donation and future donations
• To perform any necessary tasks required or permitted under applicable law.
In addition, the Congregation may publish your name and the fund to which you have donated in its donor rolls. If you wish for your donation to remain anonymous, you must contact the Congregation at info@shaare-emeth.org and request an anonymous donation.
Cookies. Like many websites, this Site may use session-based or persistent “cookies” or similar technologies to automatically gather some information about you or offer a personalized experience when using the Site. We use these technologies to enhance and facilitate use of the Site. Some areas of the Site may require cookies, and cannot be used without enabling cookies. If you are concerned about cookies stored on your computer, we encourage you to follow your web browser’s guidance for deleting cookies after completing a browsing session.
HOW WE SHARE PERSONAL INFORMATION: Third Parties. We do not rent or sell your personal information to third parties for mass marketing purposes. We may share personal information collected through this Site with our affiliates, Brotherhood, Women of Reform Judaism, the Religious School, Shirley Green Preschool, Shaare Emeth Temple Youth Group, Camp Micah and Camp Emeth. These affiliates may use the information to contact you regarding information or services that may be of interest, or as otherwise required or permitted under applicable law.
Service Providers. We may share personal information collected through the Site with companies that perform services on our behalf, including companies that provide support services to us (such as donation processing, data storage and web hosting services).
Law Enforcement and Protection. We may disclose your personal information when we believe disclosure is appropriate to comply with the law (including a court order or subpoena); to prevent or investigate a possible crime, such as fraud or identity theft; to enforce the terms that govern your use of this Site; or to protect the rights, property or safety of our Site, other users, or third parties. We also reserve the right to report to appropriate law enforcement or government agencies any activities that we, in good faith, believe to be harmful or unlawful, with or without providing notice to you.
PRIVACY PRACTICES OF THIRD PARTIES:
Links to Third Party Websites. This Site may contain links to other websites. We do not take any responsibility for monitoring these links, and inclusion of these links should not be construed as any sort of affiliation, sponsorship, endorsement, or approval. You should review the privacy policies of other websites carefully before providing any information to such websites. We shall not be responsible or liable for any information, opinions, goods or services available on or through any third party website, or any third party website’s privacy practices.
Publicly Posted Information. Please consider carefully the types of personal information and other content that you post for public display on the Site. We have no control over how other users may respond to, use, or misuse the information that you choose to post publicly. We and our directors, officers, clerical staff, employees, agents and affiliates are not responsible for any other user’s or third party’s use of use of personal information or other content that you post for public display on the Site, or for the online or offline actions of any other user or third party, and shall have no liability for any actions or inaction taken in connection therewith.
CHILDREN:
This Site is intended for and directed to adults. In compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we do not knowingly permit submission of personally identifiable information by anyone under 13 years of age. If you are under the age of 13, please do not provide us with any personally identifiable information. If we are notified that someone under the age of 13 has provided us with personally identifiable information, we will use reasonable efforts to remove such personal information from our databases.
ONLINE SECURITY:
We implement measures to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of personal information under our control and not otherwise publicly posted on the Site. However, please bear in mind that no website or data transmission over the Internet is totally secure. As a result, we cannot promise or guarantee the security of any personal information you provide on or through the Site.
