Israel Experience
Israel is an important part of Camp Emeth. Every other day, both units have Israeli Dance where a specialist teaches both traditional and newer dances in a fun and spirited way. Campers learn Hebrew during Shiur, a twice-weekly program where staff teaches campers conversational Hebrew and other lessons about Jewish values and culture.
We are so lucky to have an Israeli Shaliach on staff full time. This Israeli young adult plays several roles throughout the summer to bring a little taste of Israel to camp. She will meet for about one hour each week with every group to lead interactive activities about Israel. She also leads Flagpole every morning. During Flagpole, the whole camp gathers outside the pavilion at the flagpole to sing songs, hear announcements, learn a Hebrew word of the day, or other fun events. In addition to these formal roles, the most important part of the Shaliach's job is the chance for campers to get to know an actual Israeli citizen on a personal level. We think this will ultimately help campers develop a connection to Israel and understand its significance to the Jewish people.
